A prize-winning law graduate, Tim Dawn was well on his way to a PhD and the big bucks. And then… he fell for music. Backpacking through Australia and New Zealand, armed with a handful of songs and a guitar, he felt freer than ever. Back home he quit his job and moved to a petting zoo located at a monumental lumber mill property in the heart of Utrecht, the Netherlands, where he works on his music and takes care of the animals.
His surroundings are reflected in his artisanal yet modern indie pop songs, which echo both the peace and quiet of his life amongst the pigs and sheep, and the restlessness of the city. His sincere music and voice are reminiscent of artists like James Bay, Hozier and Dermot Kennedy.
After a number of notable live shows, including supports for The Paper Kites, John Butler Trio and Harry Styles, he got his big break in 2019, when his singles “Walking On A Wire” and “Bite The Bullet” received major airplay on national radio, were elected TopSong on Radio 2, and “Walking On A Wire” was streamed over 2,4 million times on Spotify alone.
His new EP “I’ll Hold On” was released on 4 October 2019 (World Animal Day) during a 4-hour morning radio show broadcast from his petting zoo by renowned music station 3FM, which made him 3FM Talent.
In the end, he never became a lawyer. But he surely did himself justice.
