I’ve been going on about how excited I am to be playing Popronde – but what is it?
Popronde is a travelling music festival, taking place annually in 41 cities in The Netherlands over the course of two months (September to November). Every year a limited number of up-and-coming acts are selected by a group of renowned music industry professionals. This year I am one of the lucky few!
Now, this is a huge opportunity. To make new friends, to play a lot of cool shows in new cities, and to grow as an artist – just to name a few. Ideally it’s a step towards playing the real-deal venues and big festivals. However, being selected for Popronde does not equal playing in all 41 cities. In fact, there have been acts that barely played at all.
So how does it work? Each city has its own “booker”, who gets in touch with all the local Popronde venues. Together they pick the acts that get to play in those venues. I would, of course, LOVE to play as much as possible (as do the other acts).
If you would like me to perform in your city, you have a good chance of making that happen, e.g. by:
– recommending me to your local venue or Popronde “booker”;
– recommending me in the Facebook event of your city; and/or
– helping me build momentum in general.
I’d be more than happy to come to your city with my brand new EP, my band, and lots of love!
You can find all Popronde dates on www.popronde.nl.
Hope to see you soon!
P.S. If you have other cool ideas that could help me play a lot during Popronde, I’m happy to hear them! 😉
